We Moved!

Three weeks ago, we moved from Columbia to Greenville.  After six years in Columbia, it was bittersweet.  We will miss our church family and our friends, but it was time to move on.  We're excited about Gus' new job and future opportunities here, and we love our new church and being closer to family.

When we first got married and it was just the two of us, we lived in a two-bedroom apartment.  It was relatively big, but it was sort of gross.  It was old and just wouldn't get clean despite all of our (Gus') efforts.  A month before Nathan was born, we were forced to move because a smoker moved in below us.  The smell was overwhelming at certain times of the day, so we packed everything up and moved to a newer, cleaner, cheaper, smaller one-bedroom garage apartment just as we were fixing to add another to our family.

When we began looking in Greenville, we knew we wanted to spend as little as possible on rent so that we can live on less than $1000 a month.  We still wanted to stay in a somewhat safe area, but honestly, even some of the the bad neighborhoods are a little on the expensive side for us.

My mom remembered that some church friends built a cabin in their backyard and had rented it out several years ago to the music minister and his family.  We inquired, and now we're moving in!  It is a little bigger and a little nicer than our garage apartment, but it is just one big room.  And the rent is awesome.  So even though we've gone from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom to one-big-room, we have gotten something nicer and cheaper each move.  It's funny how God provides, isn't it?

Pictures will be coming soon!
