Gus celebrated his 31st birthday Friday. I realized I couldn’t remember what we did for his birthday two years ago, so I’m hoping that this blog will help me keep track of important memories.
First, we went to Starbucks and split a whole milk hot chocolate with two pumps of peppermint, which was delicious. Then we picked up some camera batteries to take these awesome pictures for the rest of the day.
We went to the zoo first. Other than the animal poop smell, it was really fun. Nathan is still a little too young to fully appreciate it, but he did show a lot of interest in a couple of the exhibits. I think his favorite was the vultures.
Then we walked on the trail to Falls Park (about a 15 minute walk) and ate at Overlook Grill. We split the Philly Cheese Steak, fed Nathan a lemon, and got free cheesecake for dessert.
We walked around the Falls Park a bit before taking the trail back to the Cleveland Park. The playground there is really nice now, so we let Nathan try the swing for a few minutes (he didn't like it at all - I didn't get a picture of the screaming) before we drove back downtown to eat at Mellow Mushroom with my parents, grandparents and sister.
Happy birthday, Gus! Can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
