Mere Christianity is a book I’ve been meaning to read for a long time and finally got around to it. I don’t have too much to say about it, though. It is a great book that I really enjoyed reading. I like his illustrations of theological concepts, and I think it represents the doctrines and practice of Christianity well.
While nothing really stood out to me while I was reading it, I have found it is often books like this that make the most impact long-term on my thinking. I finished reading the book last Thursday, and I have thought about many of his points, particularly about forgiveness and pride, since then even though I didn’t necessarily find them all that profound when I initially read them.
I think this book would be a great for people who are interested in Christianity and/or have misconceptions about it. It’s a little more philosophical (rather than theological, if that makes sense) than other books I have read, which I really liked. Lewis uses some Scripture, but the book is more conversational than preachy.
