I wanted to add some pictures to this post, but I'm afraid I'll never get around to it if I wait. Nathan is, seriously, the sweetest boy ever I think. Sure, he hasn't quite learned what is and is not acceptable to throw (e.g. I got hit in the lip with a lotion bottle the other day), and sometimes he squeals loudly in defiance when he can't have something he wants. But those are mostly rare occasions compared to the overwhelming cuteness that he usually exudes.
When he eats in his highchair, he has started taking a cheerio or bite of whatever he has and holds it out towards whoever is sitting next to him to feed them. Then he takes a bite for himself, then one for you, one for him, one for you, etc. And he has the sweetest smile on his face while he does this like he thinks he is being grown-up by feeding you.
During church, we lift our hands during the singing of the Lord's Prayer. We have taught him the "touchdown" sign, so when we sing, one of us will whisper "touchdown" to him and he raises his hands. And he smiles really big while doing this, too. We should probably teach him a holier cue word for raising hands in worship.
Gus' favorite book when he was little was Fox in Socks, and I think it might be Nathan's, too. I've read it to him a lot, and the other day, he found the book on the floor and turned the pages for a long time, looking at the pictures and jabbering in a sing-songy voice that is always used when reading Fox in Socks.
I could go on, but I'll save some for another day.
