I'm eight days behind, but Nathan did turn 2 earlier this month. We had a little party for him at Fuddrucker's a week early with a few family members and friends in case I had baby #2 a little early, which turned out to be completely unnecessary. Here are some fun facts about our sweet little toddler:
- Nathan talks all the time. He can say a ton of words and repeat almost any word you ask him to say. It's amazing how much he has picked up in the last month. He loves talking on the phone to Daddy or Grandma while he paces around the house.
- He loves singing, especially Holy, Holy, Holy...or Ho-we, Ho-we, Ho-we. He can sing the ABC's pretty well, though he stops on random letters; for example, he'll sing "A-B-C-D-E-F-G (pause) ME!!" He makes it to different letters of the song every time, but he can sing all the way through.
- He loves chocolate "moo" (milk), cottage cheese and apple sauce, meat loaf, black beans and rice, oatmeal, sausage, pretty much any fruit, "too-tees" (cookies), and of course "nem-a-nems" (M&Ms).
- He loves reading his Jesus Storybook Bible, Green Eggs and Ham, Morris the Moose, Fox in Socks, the Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers books, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and Carine Mackenzie's Learn about God books.
- He has always loved playing with balls, but in the last few months since Christmas or so, he has discovered a love for trucks, tractors, cars, buses, etc.
- After doing elimination communication part-time since around 3 months, he painlessly completed daytime potty training in the last week of his first year (though he has had a couple accidents). We do still have him in a cloth diaper, mostly because we don't have pants that would stay up without it. He is a skinny little boy.
- He loves going to the zoo, but he is pretty scared of the monkeys (or "montees"). And I'm pretty sure he thinks there are monkeys that live in the woods behind our house.
- He weaned completely from breastfeeding at 21 months...and then had a runny nose for the next month after having basically no problems since his ear infection at 1 month old. Coincidence? Maybe.
- I think he is going to be a great big brother. He loves lifting up my shirt to say hi to the baby or kiss the baby. I guess we'll see how much he really understands in a few days.
What a gift this little boy has been to us these two years!
