Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I really liked the recent Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightley, but “real” Pride and Prejudice fans I talked to didn’t seem to like it as much. I hadn’t read the book or seen the five-hour BBC version, so I didn’t have anything to compare it to. Sure, there were parts of the movie that I didn’t really get, but I thought it was probably just me.

So when I read the book, I realized just how ridiculous that shorter movie is. Those parts that didn’t make sense really didn’t make sense when I saw what was left out. While I was reading, I kept thinking, “Ohhh, so that’s what was happening in that scene.” I’m glad the pieces of the puzzle are fitting together now.

This was a really fun book to read, and I’m looking forward to watching the five-hour movie.
